BACK

Using MC, CO 46 (46, 50, 54, 54) sts.

(RS) Begin 2x2 Two-Color Rib: Using MC and A, work for 1", ending with a WS row.

Work Fair Isle pattern (Chart 1); AT THE SAME TIME dec 2 (0, 0, 2, 0) across next row -- 44 (46, 50, 52, 54) sts.

Change to MC and work in St st until piece measures 8 (8, 8 1/2, 9, 9 1/2)" from beg. Mark both sides for armholes. Work until armholes measure 3 (2 1/2, 3 1/4, 3, 3 1/2)", ending with a WS row.

Shape Neck and Shoulders

(RS) Work 18 (18, 20, 20, 21) sts, put center 8 (10, 10, 12, 12) sts on a holder for Back neck; join a second ball of yarn and work to end. Working both sides at the same time, dec 1 st at each neck edge every row 5 (4, 5, 5, 5) times - 13 (14, 15, 15, 16) sts each side. Work even until armholes measure 4 1/2 (4 1/2, 5, 5 1/2, 6)".  Bind off loosely.

 

FRONT

Work as for Back.

 

SLEEVES

Using MC, CO 30 (34, 34, 38, 38) sts.

(RS) Begin 2X2 Two-Color Rib: Using MC and A, work for 1" ending with a WS row.

Begin Stripe pattern (Chart 2); AT THE SAME TIME, inc 1 st each end every 8 (11, 8, 9, 8) rows 2 (3, 5, 5, 4) times, then every 9 (0, 0, 0, 9) rows 2 (0, 0, 0, 2) times -- 38 (40, 44, 48, 50) sts.

Cont in Stripe pattern until piece measures 7 1/2 (8, 8 1/2, 9 1/2, 10 1/2)". Bind off loosely.

Collar Band

Sew left shoulder seam. With RS facing, using MC, pick up and work 9 (10, 10, 10, 12) sts from right Back neck edge, 8 (10, 11, 12, 12) sts from Back neck holder, 9 (10, 10, 10, 12) sts from left Back neck edge, 9 (10, 10, 10, 12) sts from left Front neck edge, 8 (10, 11, 12, 12) sts from Front neck holder and 9 (10, 10, 10, 12) sts from right Front neck edge - 52 (60, 62, 64, 72) sts.

Work 2x2 rib for 3/4". Bind off loosely.

 

FINISHING

Sew right shoulder seam, leaving Collar Band open.

Work 1 row sc at edge of Collar Band opening and add one chain buttonhole loop.

Sew button in place.

Sew sleeves in place, easing in to fit. Sew side and sleeve seams.

Embroidery

Using A, work Duplicate stitch rabbit design (Chart 3) centered 4 rows above Fair Isle.

Add pom pom for tail. Make whiskers by knotting several pieces of white thread together and sewing in place.

Weave in ends. Steam lightly.
