FINISHED MEASUREMENT:

Scarf measures approximately 10" x 61"/25.5 cm x 155 cm

 

GAUGE

In pattern st, 18 sts and 22 rows = 4"/10cm

STITCHES USED

Garter st: Knit every row.

4-stitch Front Cable (C4F): Slip 2 sts onto cable needle and hold in front, purl next 2 sts, knit 2 sts from cable needle.

4-stitch Back Cable (C4B): Slip 2 sts onto cable needle and hold in back, knit next 2 sts, purl 2 sts from cable needle.

4-st Cable: Slip 2 sts onto cable needle and hold in back, knit next 2 sts, knit 2 sts from cable needle.

3-st Bobble Cluster:

Cast on 1 st.

Row 1 (RS): (K1, p1, k1, p1, k1) in same st—5 sts.

Row 2 and all WS rows: Slip 1, p4.

Rows 3, 5 and 7: Slip 1, k4.

Row 9: K2tog, k1, k2tog—3 sts.

Row 10: P3tog, turn. Fold Bobble in half, WS tog. Insert right-hand needle into cast-on st and knit it together with remaining st of Bobble—1 st.

Repeat Rows 1–10 twice more, leaving last st on needle.

 

NOTES

1. The Bobble Edges are knit first.

2. The first Edge is worked separate and grafted on when the scarf is completed.

3. The second Edge is included in the scarf pattern.

 

BOBBLE EDGE (make 2)

Points:

Note: Each Point is worked separately, leaving stitches of last row on needle. Yarn is cut on first two Points and uncut on third. Points are then joined with a row worked across each.

Cast on 1 st.

Work 3-st Bobble Cluster.

Row 1 (RS): (K1, yo, k1) in remaining st of bobble.

Row 2 and all WS rows: Purl across.

Row 3: K1, (yo, k1) twice.

Row 5: K1, yo, k3, yo, k1.

Row 7: K1, yo, k5, yo, k1.

Row 9: K1, yo, k7, yo, k1.

Row 11: K1, yo, k9, yo, k1—13 sts.

Leaving sts on needle, cut yarn.

On same needle, cast on 1 and work Rows 1–11 to make next Point.

Continue in this manner until three Points are made—39 sts.

Row 12 (WS): To join, purl across each Point.

Row 13 (RS): Knit, increasing 5 sts evenly spaced across row—44 sts.

Row 14 (WS): Purl.

For first Bobble Edge, bind off. Cut yarn. For second Bobble Edge, place sts on holder. Do not cut yarn.

 

SCARF

Work in pattern as follows, keeping first 4 and last 4 sts in garter st.

Row 1 (RS): K4, place marker, k2, *p8, 4-st cable; repeat from * once more, end p8, k2, place marker, k4.

Row 2 and all WS rows: Keeping edge sts in garter st, knit the knit sts and purl the purl sts as they face you, slipping markers every row.

Row 3: K4, *C4F, p4, C4B; repeat from * two times more, k4.

Row 5: K4, p2, *C4F, C4B, p4; repeat from * once more, end C4F, C4B, p2, k4.

Row 7: K4, p2, *p4, 4-st cable, p4; repeat from * once more, end p4, 4-st cable, p2, k4.

Row 9: K4, p2, *C4B, C4F, p4; repeat from * once more, end C4B, C4F, p2, k4.

Row 11: K4, *C4B, p4, C4F; repeat from * two times more, end k4.

Row 12: Repeat Row 2.

Repeat Rows 1–12 for 57" or desired length, ending with Row 12.

 

FINISHING

Graft Bobble Edge from holder onto last row of Scarf.

Using yarn needle, weave in all ends.

Block by laying flat, spray with warm water and let dry.
