FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:

Scarf measures approximately 8 1/2"/ 21.5 cm wide x 60"/152 cm long, excluding fringe

 

GAUGE

Gauge is not critical for this project.

In single crochet, 15 sts and 19 rows = 4"/10 cm.

 

STITCHES USED

Chain (ch), double crochet (dc), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (slip st), treble crochet (tr)

 

SPECIAL TERMS

3 Treble Cluster (3-trCl): *Yarn over hook 2 times, insert hook in ch-4 space, yarn over and draw up a loop, (yarn over and draw through 2 loops) twice, leaving last loops of tr unworked; repeat from * 2 more times in same ch-4 space; yarn over and draw through all 4 loops on hook.

 

Strawberry Pattern (multiple of 16 sts + 5)

Note: This stitch pattern is a petite version of its larger cousin, the pineapple.

Work beginning chain as specified in pattern.

Row 1: Skip 3 chs from hook (counts as turning ch), * in next ch work [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc], ch 4, skip next 7 ch, in next ch work [dc, ch 4, dc], ch 4, skip next 7 ch; repeat from * across to last 2 ch, work [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in next ch, dc in last ch, turn.

Row 2: Ch 2, * in next ch-2 space work [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc], ch 2, skip next ch-4 space, in next ch-4 space work (3-trCl, ch 3) 3 times, 3trCl in same ch space, ch 2, skip next ch-4 space; repeat from * across to last ch-2 space, work [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in last ch-2 space, dc in turning ch, turn.

Row 3: Ch 2, * in next ch-2 space work [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc], skip next ch-2 space, [ch 3, skip next cluster, work 2 sc in next ch-3 space] 3 times, ch 3, skip next ch-2 space; repeat from * across to last ch-2 space, work [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in ch-2 space, dc in turning ch, turn.

Row 4: Ch 2, * in next ch-2 space work [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc], ch 4, skip next ch-3 sp, work 2 sc in next ch-3 space, ch 3, work 2 sc in next ch-3 space, ch 4, skip next ch-3 space; repeat from * across to last ch-2 space, work [3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in ch-2 space, dc in turning ch, turn.

Repeat Rows 2–5 for Strawberry Pattern.

 

SCARF

Chain 37.

Begin Strawberry Pattern; work even until piece measures approximately 60", end with Row 2 of Pattern. At end of last row, DO NOT fasten off.

 

Chain Loop Fringe

Working across last row of Scarf, * ch 30, slip st in next st; repeat from * across. Fasten off.

Working in free loops on opposite side of beginning ch, join with slip st in first st, * ch 30, slip st in next st; repeat from * across. Fasten off.

 

FINISHING

Using yarn needle, weave in ends.
